Jerry L. Johns, Distinguished Teacher Professor Emeritus at Northern Illinois University, has taught students from kindergarten to graduate school and is recognized as an outstanding professor, writer, teacher educator, and popular professional development speaker for schools, school districts, and professional organizations. He has been President of the International Reading Association, the Illinois Reading Council, and the College Reading Association and was a Visiting Professor at the University of Victoria. In 2007, the International Reading Association renamed the Outstanding Teacher Educator in Reading Award in his honour. Dr. Johns serves on the editorial advisory board for Reading Psychology and the Illinois Reading Council Journal. He is recognized worldwide for his research into best educational practice for classroom teachers. Dr. Johns has authored or coauthored over 15 books, including:

* Improving Reading; Strategies and Resources, 4th edition (2005)
